Organic coffee cultivation is challenging, but there is an uncle who loves chatting and always perseveres to overcome various obstacles—he is Brother Long, the farm’s owner. From growing orchids in his youth to now managing flourishing coffee trees, nothing has been too difficult for him.

Located at 1,200 meters in the Tefuye Tribe of Alishan Township, the coffee trees grow under the shade of aiyu (Ficus pumila) trees, enriching their nutrition and sweetness. For many years, they have insisted on natural organic farming and have obtained multiple certifications. However, this method requires more diligent inspection of the coffee farm compared to others. They must protect the coffee trees before pests emerge from the ground and race against monkeys and civets to harvest the ripe coffee cherries before they get eaten.

“Tafuya” connects with the Tsou culture, meaning “careful nurturing.” It conveys the image of an uncle lovingly tending each red jewel hanging on the tree. In 2022, the farm earned awards for washed and honey-processed coffees at the Alishan Estate Green Bean Exchange Competition.
